orbgem

For Claude, Claude Code and other MCP clients

Stop pasting your notes into Claude.

Connect Orbgem once, and Claude or Claude Code searches your notes, opens a runbook by name and reads today's log whenever a question needs them. Or turn it around: run orb_claude, and your own Claude Code answers the questions you type into Orbgem, on your phone too.

Start free
claude mcp add --transport http orbgem https://orbgem.com/mcp

Solo is free and includes the connector. An orb started here begins with Kubernetes, an incident template and a Redis runbook for Claude to read.

Claude Code

the cache pool keeps timing out. what does my redis runbook say?

  • orbgem · search_notes("redis cache pool")

    ⎿ Redis Runbook (redis-runbook.md)

  • orbgem · read_note("Redis Runbook")

⎿ type: Runbook · aliases: redis

Your Redis Runbook says to check the pool with redis-cli INFO clients, restart it with kubectl rollout restart deployment/redis, and raise maxclients if it keeps running out of connections.

Your orbredis-runbook.md
  1. Redis Runbook
  2. When the cache pool times out, requests queue behind it and the API slows down.
  3. Check the cache pool
  4. kubectl logs deployment/redis -n <NAMESPACE> --tail=100
  5. kubectl exec -n <NAMESPACE> deploy/redis -- redis-cli INFO clients
  6. Bring it back
  7. - Restart it: kubectl rollout restart deployment/redis
  8. - Raise maxclients if the pool keeps running out of connections

An example session. The tools are the ones Orbgem gives Claude, and the note is one an orb started here begins with.

Features

What Claude gets

Seven tools, and every one only reads. Claude sees the orb you approved and nothing else, and you can end the connection at any moment.

  • One address, any MCP client

Claude on the web, the desktop and the phone adds Orbgem as a custom connector; Claude Code runs claude mcp add. Any client that speaks Streamable HTTP connects to /mcp with OAuth or an API token.

  • Search, open and list

search_notes, read_note, list_notes, recent_notes, daily_note and open_tasks find what you wrote by its words, its name, its type or its day.

  • It knows how Orbgem works

read_manual answers questions about Orbgem itself from the manual your version ships, and reading it sends nothing of yours.

  • Your own Claude Code, inside Orbgem

Run orb_claude where Claude Code is signed in, and a question typed in Orbgem's Ask, on a phone too, is answered there. Its steps are listed and the conversation is kept as a note.

  • Your own model key

On Sync, Ask, Tidy and Distill can answer on your own Claude, GPT or Gemini key, billed by that company at its own prices. The key is encrypted the moment it arrives.

  • Every connection in sight

Settings lists each app you approved and the orb it reads. Disconnect ends one at once, and a connection unused for 30 days ends by itself.

Connect Claude to your notes

Create an orb, run the command in Claude Code or add the connector in Claude, and ask about your runbook.
